Microsoft Edge issues when using MyWinners

Why MyWinners may not work correctly in Microsoft Edge (and how to fix it)

Written by Rob Lawson
Updated over a month ago

Some customers using Microsoft Edge may experience problems accessing or using MyWinners, even though everything works correctly in other browsers such as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox.

These issues fall into two distinct categories:

  1. Recent Microsoft Edge browser bugs introduced by updates

  2. Edge privacy and tracking prevention settings blocking required functionality

Both are outside our control, and neither indicates a problem with MyWinners itself.

This article explains what’s happening and how to resolve or work around it.

Issue 1: Known Microsoft Edge Browser Bugs After Recent Updates

What’s happening?

Following recent Edge updates, some users have experienced unstable browser behaviour that affects many websites — not just MyWinners.

Common symptoms

  • Browser crashes on launch (Edge opens briefly, then closes)

  • Links or downloads requiring multiple clicks

  • First tab opening blank or frozen

  • Title bar, colour, or extension display glitches

These issues have been widely reported on specific Edge versions and are caused by browser-level changes introduced by Microsoft.

Important to know

  • These issues are caused by Microsoft Edge, not MyWinners

  • They are outside our control

  • Your account, balance, bets, and data are safe and unaffected

  • No changes are required to your MyWinners account

Microsoft typically resolves these problems in follow-up browser updates.

Issue 2: Microsoft Edge Privacy & Tracking Prevention Blocking MyWinners

Why this happens

Microsoft Edge includes built-in Tracking Prevention and privacy protections that can block essential functionality used by secure platforms like MyWinners.

When Tracking Prevention is set to Strict, or applied at a site level, Edge may block:

  • Secure authentication sessions

  • Account sign-in flows

  • Location and state verification

  • Payment and wallet functionality

As a result, MyWinners may:

  • Fail to load correctly

  • Appear broken or incomplete

  • Not allow you to sign in

Even though the site itself is working normally.

Important: Installing MyWinners as a web app does not fix this

Adding MyWinners to your taskbar or installing it as a web app does not bypass Edge’s privacy rules.

The same Tracking Prevention settings still apply.

How To Fix Privacy-Related Issues In Microsoft Edge

If you want to continue using Edge, follow these steps carefully.
This must be changed at the browser level, not just site permissions.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Microsoft Edge

  2. Go to Settings → Privacy, search, and services

  3. Under Tracking prevention, select Balanced

    • Do not use Strict

  4. Scroll down to Exceptions (under Tracking prevention)

  5. Close Edge completely

  6. Reopen Edge and reload MyWinners

Once this is done, MyWinners should load and function normally.

Site Permissions Alone Are Not Enough

Many customers check site permissions and assume everything is set correctly — but Tracking Prevention overrides them.

Even if:

  • JavaScript is allowed

  • Cookies are enabled

  • Pop-ups are allowed

MyWinners may still fail to work if Tracking Prevention is blocking required services.

Is There An Edge Extension That Fixes This?

No. There is no Edge extension that reliably resolves these issues.

The only supported fix is adjusting Edge’s Tracking Prevention settings as described above.

It may be simpler to try an alternative browser.

Recommended Browsers (Fastest Solution)

If you continue to experience problems in Microsoft Edge, we strongly recommend using an alternative browser.

MyWinners works reliably on:

  • Google Chrome

  • Safari (macOS and iOS)

  • Firefox

Using another browser is often the quickest and most reliable workaround, especially while Edge issues are being resolved by Microsoft.

When Should I Contact Support?

You only need to contact support if:

  • The issue occurs in multiple browsers, or

  • You experience problems not listed in this article

If the issue only happens in Microsoft Edge, it is almost certainly related to Edge itself.

We’ll Keep This Updated

This article will be updated if:

  • Microsoft releases confirmed fixes

  • Edge browser behaviour changes

  • New workarounds become available

In the meantime, adjusting Edge’s privacy settings or using an alternative browser is the best way to avoid disruption.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does MyWinners work in Chrome but not Edge?

It will work in both. However, Chrome uses different privacy controls and does not block the same services by default. Edge’s tracking prevention is more aggressive and can interfere with required functionality.

Does installing MyWinners as an app fix this?

No. Installing MyWinners as a web app or pinning it to the taskbar does not change Edge’s privacy or tracking settings.

Is this a MyWinners bug?

No. This is a browser-level privacy setting in Microsoft Edge. MyWinners is functioning as expected.

Can customer support change this for me?

No. These are local browser settings and must be changed by the user.

What should I do if it still doesn’t work?

If the steps above are followed exactly and the issue persists, contact Customer Support so we can review your setup.

Why does MyWinners suddenly stop working after an Edge update?

Microsoft Edge updates can change browser behaviour, including privacy controls and internal rendering. In some cases, this can cause MyWinners to appear broken or unresponsive even though the platform itself is operating normally.

Does using InPrivate mode in Microsoft Edge help?

No. InPrivate mode applies even stricter privacy and tracking restrictions, which can make the issue worse rather than better when using MyWinners.

Will resetting Microsoft Edge fix the issue?

In some cases, resetting Edge can help if settings have become corrupted, but it is not guaranteed. Adjusting Tracking Prevention to Balanced or using an alternative browser is usually faster and more reliable.

Can antivirus or security software cause similar problems?

Yes. Some antivirus or endpoint security tools integrate with Microsoft Edge and can block scripts, authentication, or secure sessions. If MyWinners works in another browser, this strongly suggests a local browser or security configuration issue.

Will this affect my MyWinners account, balance, or bets?

No. These issues only affect how Microsoft Edge loads the site. Your account, balance, open bets, and transaction data remain safe and unchanged.

Is this likely to happen again in the future?

It can. Browser updates occasionally introduce bugs or stricter defaults. Using a recommended browser reduces the risk of disruption, especially during major browser update cycles.

Why do you recommend switching browsers instead of fixing this?

Because these issues are caused by Microsoft Edge behaviour outside our control. Using a different browser avoids browser-level conflicts and provides the most consistent MyWinners experience.
